Home Remedies for Peptic Ulcers


Peptic ulcers -- open sores in the inside layer of the stomach, esophagus, or duodenum (the first part of the intestine -- are common. Peptic ulcers happen when the acids that help you digest food damage the walls of the stomach or duodenum.



Cabbage is regarded as another useful home remedy for a peptic ulcer: 250 gm should be boiled in 500 ml of water till it is reduced to half; this water should be allowed to cool, and taken twice daily. The juice extracted from raw cabbage is also a valuable medicine for a peptic ulcer.

For bronchitis and many other home remedies a very powerful herb that is used is turmeric, which is a close relative of ginger. Turmeric powder, about a half teaspoon's worth, should be placed in a half glass of milk about 2 or 3 times a day. This will work better when done on an empty stomach.

People belonging to certain categories and lifestyles are relatively easier targets of Stomach Ulcers. Those having a family history of ulcers need to be on a red alert. Smoking and excessive consumption of alcohol too can lead to the development of stomach ulcers. Use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications is also one of the prime causes of this disease.

There are some factors which leads to the apearance of the peptic ulcer like: infection with bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori; certain medicines like aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen and diclofenac;smoking and alcohol.

Acidity occurs when the secretion of acids by the stomach exceeds the normal quantity. Cells lining the stomach normally produce some amount of acid which helps in the digestion process by breaking down the food we consume. Over-production of this acid leads to a condition called acidity. When acidity occurs, the acidic contents (hydrochloric acid) of the stomach and gastric juices are pushed to the base of the esophagus or food pipe, resulting in a sour taste in the mouth that resembles the taste of a stale orange puree.

Throat infection is very common in people living in areas with high pollution. Pneumonia is very common in children and elderly people for whom natural immune power will be very less. Sinusitis and pharyngitis are also found in people who suffer from bacterial infections. Colored nasal discharge and headaches are commonly experienced when bacterial infections are in the respiratory tract.
